Bioinformatics Scientist

What you will do

Tecan Genomics, Inc. is looking for a talented individual who is experienced in bioinformatics analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data and pipeline development. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing bioinformatics expertise for multiple internal and external customers, focusing on R&D and customer support.

The ideal candidate will be personable with a strong problem-solving competence and effective communication skills. Position reports to the Director of Customer Support.

 

Responsibilities will include

• Participate in project teams to guide experimental design and conduct data analysis
• Provide bioinformatics support to R&D, Tech Support, Marketing and Operations
• Develop and optimize scripts, analysis pipelines and reports for routine NGS and genomic data processing
• Provides consultation with colleagues on use of various data analysis tools
• Supports product development, support, marketing and sales efforts as an extended team member

What you bring along

• Master’s degree or Ph. D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or equivalent experience. Background in molecular and cellular biology is a plus
• 2+ years’ experience analyzing NGS (i.e RNA-Seq, WGBS, RRBS, DNA-Seq) and other genomic (microarray, qPCR, etc.) data
• Demonstrated application of open-source packages for NGS data
• 3-5 years of experience in bioinformatics software development using Python, and proficiency in other relevant programming languages in a Unix environment
• Experience with cloud computing and technologies
• Demonstrated ability to present data to end users from all skill levels
• Demonstrated knowledge of statistical principles, including experimental design and machine learning
• Ability to manage & prioritize competing needs from multiple customers
• Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team required
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
